GyanDhara

Transforming Education with Immersive VR in Adarsh Vidyalayas and other schools

The GyanDhara initiative is set to revolutionize education for Grades 8-12 in Adarsh Vidyalayas and other schools by integrating immersive Virtual Reality (VR) experiences. This cutting-edge project will create a dynamic VR ecosystem with 20 innovative modules, allowing students to explore science, history, and abstract concepts in environments that bring lessons to life.

Students will not just learn—they will experience subjects in realistic, fantastical, or conceptual worlds that foster deeper understanding, engagement, and curiosity. The virtual platform ensures seamless progress by saving students' work, enabling them to resume learning effortlessly, and connecting various modules for an interdisciplinary approach. Collaboration is central, with virtual classrooms facilitating real-time discussions and teamwork, breaking geographical barriers.

Teachers will receive comprehensive training to integrate VR into their teaching, supported by the setup of VR zones in schools. The project will begin with a year-long pilot in 56 Adarsh Vidyalayas, gathering insights to refine the program before expanding to over 20,000 schools nationwide.

Funded with ₹5.9 crore by the Guwahati Planetarium Management Society in collaboration with Assam’s Department of Science and Technology and Department of Education, this transformative initiative will be executed by the Embedded Interaction Lab at IIT Guwahati. GyanDhara aims to set a new benchmark in education, making learning immersive, inclusive, and future-ready.
