Inauguration of the Educational Metaverse: A Leap Towards Immersive Learning in Assam

The Guwahati Planetarium unveiled its state-of-the-art Virtual Reality Section with the inauguration of the "Educational Metaverse" project. This transformative initiative is set to revolutionize education by offering immersive and interactive learning experiences in subjects like physics, biology, geology, and space science.

Hon’ble Minister of Science and Technology, Government of Assam, Shri Keshab Mahanta, graced the event, alongside esteemed dignitaries such as Mrs. Laya Madduri, Secretary of the Science-Technology and Climate Change Department; Dr. Jaydeep Barua, Director of the Assam Science Technology and Environment Council; Mr. Vijay Shankar Sharma, North East Convener of the National Science Museum Council; and Dr. Keyur Sorathia, Associate Professor at IIT Guwahati.

The project, developed in collaboration with the Embedded Interaction Lab, Department of Design, IIT Guwahati, under the ‘Evam’ Project, showcases the power of virtual reality in making education engaging and accessible. Through cutting-edge VR modules and tools, it promises to deepen the understanding of complex scientific concepts for students and enthusiasts alike.

This groundbreaking initiative is a pivotal step in enriching Assam’s science and technology ecosystem, highlighting the transformative potential of technology in education. By fostering curiosity and innovation, the Educational Metaverse is set to inspire a new era of learning in the region.
