Swasthyaa

India is a country with the highest burden of TB worldwide. The major and unaddressed problems are poor referral systems, tracking of defaulters, real-time updates on Direct Observed Treatment ShortCourse (DOTS), disconnected health centers and delayed information reach to health administrators. These problems lead to delayed preventive measures and ineffective implementation of government initiatives which results in low-quality TB care.

We have designed and developed Swasthyaa, a web and mobile-based service for health administrators, medical officers and health workers to track/monitor the progress of TB patients in real-time. Swasthyaa consists of 3 major components (a) (a) centralized web & mobile phone based information system for health administrators (b) SMS based service for patients to update on DOTS and (c) audio-visual animation and video based training modules for DOTS providers.

The objective is to improve TB ecosystem in sync with existing government supported TB initiatives. Swasthyaa is a centralized and "anytime, anywhere" accessible system to empower health administrators and workers to track and monitor - initial defaulters, regular DOTS medication, retreatment defaulters and provide real-time updates to take preventive measures for category 1 and 2 TB patients and defaulters.

Swasthyaa is currently under development. The functioning of Swasthyaa will be ready by May 15th, 2018 along with the field trials in Nalbari and Kamrup district in Assam, India.
